The Ministry of Youth and Sports of the South West State of Somalia today held an event in Baidoa to mark International Youth Day, observed every year on 12 August.

The event focused on the role of young people in development, peace, innovation, job creation and the future of the youth of South West Somalia.

It was attended by government officials, young people, youth organisations and civil society.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening youth participation, developing their skills, encouraging innovation and creating opportunities for them to take an active part in developing their country.

Youth are the power of today and the leaders of tomorrow.
